Loughton Camp Ancient Earthworks - The Past has a Life in the Forest for string duo & live electronics (reverb, delay, octave, and loop (optional).

Loughton Camp is an ancient hillfort in Epping Forest with distinct archaeological features and lots of folklore associated with it.

The graphic score is split into eight sections (From the ground – Shadow claws – Hazy light – Streamlet – Pollarded trees – Forest floor – Turpin – Into the ground) each with a different sound world that relates to a particular area of the camp.

The work was originally written for electric violin and electric cello but can be performed by any string duo combination. It was recorded live in Epping Forest’s Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge in 2019.
